Our client is seeking a Crisis Response Therapist, Team Lead to join their growing team. The selected candidate will assist in developing and maintaining a 24/7/365 on-call crisis response program that responds to those in the community and specified partner organizations. This position develops and maintains an urgent access service delivery system to meet the behavioral health needs of both internal and external consumers. In addition, conducts person-centered, comprehensive behavioral health assessments with individuals, couples, and families.  Our client boasts a wonderful benefit package and is offering a $5,000 hiring bonus!


Job Duties

  • Work with the Clinical Supervisor with providing clinical supervision per program guidelines and licensure requirements to program staff
  • Assist the Clinical Supervisor with monitoring staff caseloads and provide training, coaching, and supervision to ensure productivity and quality standards are met
  • Help with establishing professional development/education plans with assigned staff and ensure implementation
  • Work with the Clinical Supervisor to facilitate recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, and termination of program staff
  • Deliver emergency mental health assessments to individuals, couples, and families experiencing behavioral health crises, across various locations
  • Respond within required timeframes and provide on-site, telehealth, or phone-based services as needed
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including assessment of client preferences, cultural and identity factors, strengths, support networks, symptomology, and functional impairments
  • Screen for and assess co-occurring substance use disorders and assign appropriate behavioral health diagnoses
  • Develop individualized treatment, safety, and intervention plans, including crisis safety planning for individuals not requiring hospitalization or Emergency Protective Custody (EPC)
  • Provide de-escalation support with a focus on crisis stabilization, jail diversion, and reduced hospitalizations
  • Collaborate with clients to identify natural support and connect them to appropriate community resources
  • Make recommendations regarding placement and safety needs to law enforcement or partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant digital records according to agency, program, state, Council on Accreditation (COA), and CCBHC standards
  • Ensure accurate documentation of services for billing and reporting purposes
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including peer reviews and regular supervision
  • Provide behavioral health consultation and coordinate care with internal programs, external providers, and medical health homes
  • Complete provider enrollment documentation and reporting for third-party payers
  • Offer clinical support and mentorship to practicum/internship students and less experienced therapists
  • Support law enforcement training and coordination through ride-alongs, shift briefings, and participation in Crisis Intervention Officer Training
  • Foster respectful and collaborative relationships with internal staff, public and private human services organizations, criminal justice systems, and referral sources
  • Promote the agency’s mission, services, and events through community engagement
  • Provide feedback on workflows and suggest improvements related to client care and internal processes
  • Maintain all credentialing requirements and complete ongoing continuing education to meet licensure standards
  • Perform other behavioral health duties as assigned
  • For on-call or occasional staff: Provide coverage for identified times, including the period of 4:30 PM to 6:00 AM. Calls from consumers and identified partner agencies must be answered within 2 minutes. Employees must be onsite within 1 hour (2 hours in a rural setting) within the identified area determined by program.

  • Participate in the peer review process, routine clinical supervision, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
  • Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a human service program that provided preparation for professional counseling
  • Licensed to practice mental health in Nebraska (LIMHP or LICSW required)
  • Demonstrated experience in de-escalation and supporting consumers in a mental health crisis
  • Knowledge and experience with crisis assessment
  • Two plus years of behavioral health experience
  • Two plus years of leadership/supervisory experience in providing quality clinical training, supervision, and program development
  • Bilingual language skills preferred
  • Valid Nebraska Driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and ability to drive for work
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies to work with individuals with a variety of behavioral health, including but not limited to persons of diverse cultural backgrounds
