This position is responsible for obtaining pre-authorization from insurance payors for medications/treatments, radiology testing, laboratory procedures, and pathology testing prior to being rendered. The incumbent will ensure authorization information is accurately relayed to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.  There is a $500 sign on bonus! 

 

Some Essential Job Functions: 

  • Takes care of any patient needs promptly and willingly.
  • Obtains insurance authorization and pre-certification for services or treatment
  • Contacts care team with complete and accurate denial and appeals process information
  • Coordinates Peer-to-Peer reviews with providers for denied requests
  • Accurately notates the account with actions taken for pre-certification
  • Works collaboratively with the patient advocate team and financial counselors to obtain medications for patients through assistance funds and foundations.

Requirements

Education and Experience:  

1. High School diploma or GED required

2. At least 2 years’ experience in a medical billing office is required; oncology is preferred

3. Must have working knowledge of third party billing requirements to ensure appropriate authorizations are completed.

4. Must have knowledge of guideline resources used to guide treatment and procedure approvals (National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Local Coverage Determination (LCD).

5. Must have general working knowledge of insurance plans, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, medical terminology, and HIPAA

6. Proficient with Microsoft office
