Nebraska Cancer Specialists is the regional leader in cancer diagnosis, treatment and research.  We are seeking a Patient Financial Advocate who will be responsible for helping patients navigate treatment costs and options for assistance, meet one-on-one with patients notifying them of their treatment costs and options for assistance with financial responsibilities if needed. 

 

Job Duties Include:

  • Meets with new treatment patients that are self-pay, to review cost of care and avenues for patient assistance.
  • Collaborates with the precertification team to identify patients eligible for co-pay cards, Foundations, Societies or who might qualify for drug replacement.
  • Maintains an accurate record of all patients receiving assistance as above.
  • Works with patients to complete hardship applications and follows practice policy for hardship and write off. 
  • Meets with patients to discuss outstanding balances and determines plan for payment.
  • Demonstrates NCS Mission and Core Values through actions and words
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements

  • One year of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance billing 
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision
  • Previous experience working in an medical office is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language fluently, bilingual a plus (English/Spanish)
